Terras Gauda
The winery "Terra Gauda" ("Lands of Joy"), founded in 1989, is located in the Rías Baixas region of Galicia, Spain. The estate owns 160 hectares of vineyards, primarily situated in the picturesque, lush valley of O Rosal, near the Minho River, on the border with Portugal. The local microclimate—warm and moderately humid—is ideal for ripening grapes with high sugar content and soft, non-aggressive acidity.Only traditional local varieties are used for winemaking—Albariño, Loureiro, Caiño, and Treixadura. Terra Gauda preserves and develops the nearly extinct Caiño variety, which accounts for about two-thirds of the plantings in Rías Baixas. To maintain the authenticity of their wines, the winery cultivates native yeast strains identified from their own vineyards.
