Domaine Gerard Peirazeau & Fils

For four generations, the renowned Groffier family has been the cornerstone of Domaine Peirazeau. Jules Groffier (1898-1974) established the vineyard holdings, which were later divided between his children: Robert Groffier, who founded "Domaine Robert Groffier,"and Bernadette Groffier, who married Mr. Peirazeau and established "Domaine Peirazeau-Groffier." Although most of the grapes were sold to prestigious negociants for several years, Laurent Peirazeau, grandson of Bernadette and son of Gerard, decided to expand the family's production from the 2019 vintage onward under the label "Gerard Peirazeau & Fils". Laurent, along with his partner Sophie Charlopin, who comes from a prominent wine family and adds her own talent to the domain, manages a 3.65-hectare vineyard spread across three villages, including Morey St Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, and Gevrey-Chambertin. Although the vineyard is relatively small, it boasts exceptional terroirs and plot locations. The domain produces 13 appellations, five of which are among the most celebrated Grand Crus, including Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Charmes Chambertin, Clos de la Roche, Clos Saint-Denis, and Bonnes Mares. In addition, the domain also owns 0.21 hectares of Chambolle-Musigny 1er cru les Amoureuses, a vineyard that is often considered as Grand Cru. The majority of the vineyard consists of old vines, with an average age of 60 years old. Notably, the oldest vines, including Haut-Doix, Amoureuses, Charmes-Chambertin, and Clos de Beze, reach up to 80 years of age.
