Armand Heitz

Armand Heitz is a young Burgundian winemaker representing a new generation that not only revived a historic family heritage but also brought to it a completely new philosophical approach based on agroecology and permaculture. He has quickly earned a reputation as one of the most brilliant and progressive producers in the region. Armand is the grandson of Armand Lochardet and a descendant of the Nié‑Vantey family, which owned significant vineyards in the Côte de Beaune since the mid‑19th century. Armand earned his oenology diploma from the prestigious Changins school in Switzerland, graduating in 2011. In 2012, he joined the family business and set himself an ambitious goal: to regain control of the vineyards that had long been leased out and to begin bottling his own wines. His first wine under his own label was released in 2013. It was a titanic effort – in just a few years, Armand restored the estate, earning a reputation as one of the most talented winemakers of his generation. Armand Heitz’s credo is “Terroir sans filtre” (“Terroir without a filter”), reflecting his desire for maximum transparency, honesty, and minimal intervention in both the vineyard and the cellar.
