Jacques Selosse Mareuil sur Ay Sous le Mont 750ml
Incredibly complex, multi‑layered, in the signature “Selossian” style. Notes of walnut, caramel, almond, and cream are the hallmark. Unlike many of Selosse's Champagnes, here the tones of redcurrant, raspberry, and rose petals are distinctly audible – the influence of Pinot Noir. All of this is framed by notes of white pepper, cedar, mint, tea, licorice, and seashells.
Full‑bodied, powerful, yet elegant and focused. Dense, unctuous, with a velvety texture that literally envelops the palate, yet remains sleek and “soaring.” The high, taut, laser‑like acidity, combined with chalky minerality, is the backbone of the wine. On the palate, layers of ripe red berries, apple, dried fruit, nuts, and spices are perceptible.
The finish is endlessly long, persistent, and complex, with a dominant mineral, saline note and hints of smoke and tobacco.
