The aroma is fantastically complex and layered. The bouquet interweaves explosive notes of violet, raspberry, blackcurrant (cassis), black cherry, and even Black Forest gâteau. These give way to balsamic and minty nuances, hints of tobacco, tea leaf, bay leaf, dill, and spices (clove, nutmeg). Structured, vertical, and very long. The texture is dense, with fine-grained, “crunchy” tannins that provide a gripping hold. The surprising freshness is juicy, with very pleasant acidity. On the palate, there are plenty of juicy red berries, blackberry, nuances of graphite, licorice, black pepper, and chocolate.
