Weingut Krone
Weingüter Wegeler is a renowned family winery with origins dating back to 1882. The company is currently led by Ralf Frenzel, representing the fourth generation of the Wegeler family, while Richard Grosche, serving as managing director, oversees all financial matters. The winery operates two production facilities located along the Rhine and Mosel rivers, both specializing in crafting exquisite Riesling wines. A significant milestone in the company’s development was the partnership established with the Krone winery in Assmannshausen in 2007. Following the passing of its owner, Boto Jung, in 2014, the Krone winery became an integral part of the Wegeler family business. The company’s history traces back to Julius Wegeler, who worked as a wine merchant and produced sparkling wines at Deinhard before becoming a winemaker. To create great wines, he needed not only financial prosperity but also strategic vision, dedicated cellars for aging, and, most importantly, time. Through meticulous selection of exceptional vineyards, Julius Wegeler established a winery with a unique portfolio of plots, the majority of which belong to the Grand Cru and Premier Cru categories.
