Weingut Burg Ravensburg

The Ravensburg Estate is located in the picturesque commune of Sülzfeld, part of the Baden wine region and the historical Kraichgau district. The history of viticulture in this area dates back to the distant year of 1251. The Ravensburg Castle, which gave its name to the entire estate, was once the family estate of the noble family of Barons Goeler von Ravensburg. Today, this majestic medieval castle is one of the most significant historical monuments in the region. In the 1950s, the preserved parts of the castle were carefully restored and transformed into an elegant restaurant. To this day, the estate remains in the ownership of the Goeler von Ravensburg family. Since 1995, the estate has been managed by the experienced Klaus Burgmeister, while Jürgen Kern is responsible for the cellars. The estate’s vineyards cover an area of 33 hectares. Among them, the exclusive plots of Dicker Franz, Husarenkappe, and Loechle stand out, along with shared holdings in the communes of Sülzfeld and Kürnbach. The vineyards cultivate both red varieties — Lemberger (20%), Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Trollinger — as well as white varieties — Riesling (30%), Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris. The premium wines from the three top-quality plots are released under the Grosses Gewächs category, while the basic line is represented by the «Freiherr von Goeler» brand. The annual production volume amounts to approximately 260,000 bottles. The estate is a member of the prestigious VDP association (Union of Quality Wine Producers) and has fully adhered to organic winemaking principles since 2010.
