Tempelhof Winery

Tempelhof Winery is a small but highly ambitious and already widely known estate in the south of Russia. It is the first organic farm in the history of the Stavropol Krai, a true beacon of the “new wave” of winemaking in the region. The winery was founded in 2015 in the village of Prikumskoye by professional wine importers Ekaterina Kozlakova and Fedor Eshtokin. Their experience in the wine trade spans more than 25 years. The impetus to create their own estate came from meeting legendary Tuscan winemaker Andrea Franchetti (Tenuta di Trinoro). During a trip across southern Russia in 2011, he pointed out to the future owners a plot on the left bank of the Kuma River as a place with enormous, still untapped potential for producing great wines. It took three years to purchase the land. The winery was named after the historic German colony of Tempelhof, which translates as “God’s estate”. It was founded on this site in 1867 by German settlers, who already successfully cultivated European grape varieties back then. This name is a bridge between the past and present of viticulture in the region. The estate is located in the Stavropol Krai, in the foothills of the North Caucasus, on the left bank of the Kuma River, not far from the city of Mineralnye Vody. The vineyard is just a few minutes’ drive from the winery, allowing the grapes to be processed as quickly as possible.
