Usadba Markotkh
«Usadba Markotkh Winery» takes its name from the majestic mountain range, whose name translates from the Circassian language as “berry” or “blackberry”. Several years ago, the estate’s wines became the first representatives of Russian winemaking in our portfolio. Alexey Tolstoy, the chief winemaker of the estate, is one of the most talented Russian enologists with an exceptional understanding of the local terroir characteristics. The grape growing conditions at Markotkh can be described as extreme: water scarcity, piercing winds, and the constant struggle of the vines for survival create a real challenge for nature. It is these stress factors that shape the character of the wines — they turn out to be rich and concentrated. However, the winemaker’s skill allows maintaining the perfect balance, signature style, and elegance of each beverage. Every wine from Markotkh is the result of a harmonious union between natural challenges and professional winemaking art. The vines’ struggle for survival, combined with the winemaker’s expertise, produces wines that are both intense and balanced, showcasing the unique character of this remarkable terroir.
