Uppa Winery
Uppa Winery is a dynamically developing Crimean winery founded in 2007 by renowned wine expert Pavel Shvets. His impressive journey in the wine industry began with a 15-year career in prestigious Moscow restaurants, where he combined working as a sommelier with importing premium alcoholic beverages from Europe. Pavel’s professional triumph was marked by the title of Russia’s first sommelier champion, won in 1999. Inspired by his passion for winemaking, in the mid-2000s, he returned to his homeland in Crimea, where he revived an abandoned collective farm vineyard 20 kilometers from Sevastopol. The name Uppa holds special significance: it originates from the Crimean Tatar word meaning «native», and is connected to the nearby river and the village of Rodnaya. The estate’s philosophy is based on the principles of biodynamic winemaking, where nature develops naturally without the use of chemicals. The winery specializes in creating unique terroir-driven wines that reflect the character of the Crimean land. As a pioneer of biodynamic winemaking in Crimea, Pavel Shvets constantly improves production technologies, striving for consistently high quality in his products. While his wines are rarely found in retail, they are distinguished by their exceptional character and authenticity
