Soutiran

Champagne Soutiran is a family‑owned Champagne house from the legendary Grand Cru village of Ambonnay, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. It is a small but highly respected producer, often described as “boutique” and “artisan”. The house belongs to the Négociant‑Manipulant (NM) category, carefully working with both its own vineyards and purchased grapes to craft elegant and complex cuvées. The history of the house began in 1936, when Gérard Soutiran returned to viticulture after his military career, a craft he had practised in his youth. He bought back the vineyards from his former mentor and expanded the estate thanks to the dowry of his wife, Solange. In the 1950s, Gérard was the first to use the Soutiran name on his Champagne bottles. In 1969, Gérard’s eldest son, Alain Soutiran, continued the work, expanding the vineyards in Ambonnay and starting to release wines under the name Soutiran Pelletier. A key moment in the house’s development came in 1989, when the founder’s granddaughter, Valérie Soutiran, took over the management, focusing on the commercial side and exporting wines worldwide. Since then, the house has been known as Champagne Soutiran. In 1999, Valérie’s husband, Patrick Renaux, joined the team, later taking charge of winemaking and wine creation. Today, they continue the family business together, combining more than 70 years of experience with an innovative approach.
