Storm Wines
Hannes Storm dedicated 12 years to exploring the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley before discovering two small plots with unique terroir characteristics. His primary objective was to create wines that would fully reflect the distinctive features of their origin. This marked the birth of the Storm project. The winery’s history began in 2008 with the planting of Pinot Noir vines. The inaugural vintage was released in 2012, and after 18 months of bottle aging, the wines went on sale in August 2014. The winery’s portfolio features wines made exclusively from two grape varieties — Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Each of the vineyards — «Ridge», «Vrede», and «Ignis» — possesses its own unique character. The soils of the plots are characterized by their poverty and stoniness, with a clay structure formed mainly from decomposed granite and shale rocks. It is precisely due to these terroir characteristics that Storm wines are distinguished by their vibrant natural acidity and pronounced minerality.
