Seña

The historic partnership between two outstanding winemakers from North and South America resulted in something truly exceptional. Eduardo Chadwick, owner of the legendary estate Viña Errázuriz, and Robert Mondavi, a legend of Californian winemaking, joined forces in 1995 to create the Seña («sign») project in Chile. This winery became a true breakthrough for Chilean winemaking, presenting the world with Chile’s first great wine and becoming a flagship for the country’s promotion on the international stage. However, Eduardo Chadwick had to pursue the path to recognition among the world’s great wines alone. In 2004, he became the sole owner of Seña after purchasing the share from Robert Mondavi company. This was when a significant event took place: on Chadwick’s initiative, leading European experts gathered in Berlin for a blind tasting. The professionals were presented with prestigious Médoc châteaux, famous Super Tuscan wines, and Chadwick’s own creations. The results of this historic tasting exceeded all expectations: Chilean wines took the top two positions in the ranking, surpassing the world’s renowned great wines. Thanks to Seña, Eduardo Chadwick fulfilled his cherished dream — to create a true wine icon of Chile that changed the world’s perception of Chilean winemaking.
