Rossignol-Trapet

The history of this winery dates back to ancient times and is connected with the union of two renowned winemaking families — the Rossignol and Trapet families. The Rossignol dynasty is considered one of the oldest in the Volnay region, with origins dating back to the 16th century. The Trapet family, in turn, has owned vineyards in the prestigious Gevrey-Chambertin for over a hundred years. A fateful union took place in 1961 when Jacques Rossignol married Mado Trapet, the daughter of Louis Trapet. The young family established their own estate, naming it after the father-in-law — Louis Trapet. Under this name, wines were produced until 1989. The year 1990 marked a significant turning point when, following the division of the family property, a new estate emerged — Domaine Rossignol-Trapet. Its founders were Jacques Rossignol and his sons Nicolas and David. The winery was located in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. It is noteworthy that the estate has preserved unique pre-phylloxera vines planted by the great-grandfather of the current owners back in 1919. The division of property also resulted in the creation of another estate — Domaine Jean Trapet.
