Klein Constantia

Klein Constantia vineyards were established in 1685 by Simon van der Stel. In 1778, they were acquired by Hendrik Klete, which brought worldwide fame to the wines, enjoyed by Napoleon and King George IV. In 1818, the estate was inherited by the Klete family. After the phylloxera epidemic at the end of the 19th century, production ceased, but the reputation remained. In 1913, it was transformed into a luxurious residence. In 1980, Duggie Jooste restored the winery and revived the legendary Vin de Constance. Klein Constantia wines gained international recognition, awards, and high ratings, becoming some of the best sweet wines in the world
