Garage Wine & Co
The story of Garage Wine Company began in an unconventional way — in the ordinary garage of Pilar and Derek, where they initially produced wines exclusively for family and friends. The turning point came in 2006, when the decision was made to enter the international market, starting exports to the UK and Denmark. Today, GWCo specializes in producing small batches of wine from unique plots covering 1-2 hectares. Special attention is paid to pre-phylloxera vines in the Maule and Itata regions. Pilar, Derek, along with their partners Álvaro Peña and Ernesto Müller, are actively engaged in researching and restoring ancient vineyards. They employ innovative methods of regenerative farming and dry farming techniques. Due to the lack of rainfall and nutrients, special emphasis is placed on seasonal cover crops. Because of the challenging terrain where tractors cannot operate, the land is cultivated using horses and ploughs. The team’s hard work has paid off. Over more than a decade, the previously abandoned vineyards have transformed into a source of vibrant, distinctive wines. Garage Wine is now a recognized producer, regularly receiving awards at prestigious competitions such as TEXSOM and Mondiales des Vins Canada, as well as high ratings from wine critics.
