Frederic Cossard
Frédéric Cossard is a prominent and charismatic figure in the world of Burgundy winemaking, renowned for his independence and charm. From a young age, he dreamed of becoming a winemaker, although his father was involved in the dairy industry. Following his father’s wishes, after graduating from school, Frédéric enrolled in the National School of Dairy Industry. For ten years, he worked in this field, but simultaneously became interested in selling Burgundy wines. This period became a time of significant discoveries for him: he tasted numerous wines, gained his first practical experience working in the vineyard, and deeply immersed himself in the intricacies of winemaking. Gradually, Frédéric developed his own vision of the perfect wine and set a goal for himself — to create his own product. The year 1996 marked a turning point in his career: leaving the dairy industry, he founded the winery Domaine Chassorney. The first wines were produced from grapes grown in the vicinity of Saint-Romain and Auxey-Duresses. Ten years later, in 2006, a new enterprise emerged under the name Frédéric Cossard. Today, Frédéric, together with his wife Laura, produces wines under two brands: Domaine Chassorney represents wines from their own vineyards, while Frédéric Cossard produces wines from leased plots. The distinctive feature of Frédéric’s wines lies in their classic Burgundy style: they are characterized by their richness, distinct terroir character, and impeccable balance of all components.
