Etienne Sauzet

Etienne Sauzet has a unique story of its own. While the domain’s founder assembled an exceptional collection of vineyards, a new chapter in the estate’s history began with Gérard Boudot, the husband of Étienne Sauzet’s granddaughter. It was he who created the renowned “Sauzet style,” striking a perfect balance between expressive fruit and saline minerality in the wines. Since the early 2000s, Benoît Riffault, a member of a distinguished winemaking dynasty from the Loire Valley, has been at the helm of the estate. His wife, Émilie, is the great-granddaughter of the legendary founder, and Benoît’s journey mirrors that of his illustrious father-in-law. By becoming part of the Sauzet-Boudot family, he not only found himself at the heart of Burgundy’s great winemaking history but also took on the responsibility of carrying it forward. After fifteen years under Benoît Riffault’s stewardship, it is safe to say that the Etienne Sauzet style has reached its zenith. The estate’s wines are now a true reflection of the Puligny-Montrachet terroir, showcasing its unique character in every bottle.
