Domaine Tempier
In 1940, Lucie Tempier and Lucien Peyraud settled at Le Plan du Castellet—a property gifted to the newlyweds by Lucie’s father, which had been in the family since 1834. Their arrival marked the dawn of a new era for Provence. At the time, old Mourvèdre vines were being uprooted in favor of higher-yielding varieties. But the Peyraud-Tempier family championed Mourvèdre’s true home: Bandol. Within years, their unwavering commitment restored this historic grape as the cornerstone of the region’s wines.Domaine Tempier’s diverse soils, innovative spirit, and meticulous craftsmanship set a new benchmark, elevating Bandol to the ranks of France’s great wine regions. In 1941, their efforts helped secure Bandol’s AOC status—a testament to its quality. For over two decades, the estate’s legendary reputation has been upheld by visionary winemaker Daniel Ravier.
