Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret

The legendary family estate — Mongeard-Mugneret winery, preserving the traditions of the eighth generation of winemakers — is a true gem of Burgundian winemaking. With a history spanning more than three centuries, dating back to the 18th century, this dynasty has become a true stronghold of winemaking traditions in the Vosne-Romanée region. The Mongeard family holds a special place among Burgundy winemakers, being one of the largest landowners of the prestigious Echézeaux, Grand Echézeaux, and Richebourg vineyards. In addition to the winemaking business, the family owns the exquisite Richebourg hotel-restaurant, highly rated in the Michelin guide. Historical records indicate that as early as 1786, members of the family worked at the renowned Domaine de la Romanée-Conti winery. A significant milestone was the union of the Mongeard and Mugneret families in 1945, giving rise to the modern name of the estate. Jean Mongeard, the founders’ grandson, took the reins of the winery at a young age and wrote a bright page in the history of Burgundian winemaking. Recognized as an authority in Vosne-Romanée and president of the Côte d’Or Winegrowers Association, he passed management to his son Vincent — a representative of the eighth generation of winemakers. Under Vincent’s leadership, the Mongeard dynasty continues the glorious traditions of family winemaking, preserving centuries-old knowledge while implementing modern production technologies.
