Domaine Leflaive

The history of Domaine Leflaive dates back to 1717, when Claude Leflaive acquired vineyards in the prestigious Puligny-Montrachet region. A turning point came with Joseph Leflaive (1870–1953), who, despite his engineering background and experience working on France’s first submarine, returned to the family business in 1905. Demonstrating remarkable foresight, he purchased 25 hectares of phylloxera-stricken vineyards at rock-bottom prices. His perseverance paid off: from 1920, Domaine Leflaive’s wines earned a reputation as some of the finest in Burgundy. In 1990, management of the estate passed to Anne-Claude Leflaive, who initiated a true revolution. She completely transformed the estate to biodynamic practices, abandoning herbicides and chemicals in favour of natural fertilizers and compost. According to Anne-Claude, her wines are characterized by exceptional intensity and vital energy, making her a worthy successor to the family’s legendary tradition.
