Dmitry Maslov

Winemaker - Dmitry Maslov, already renowned for his Pithos wines, conceived the idea of producing an annual vintage using grapes of the highest quality, specially selected for the limited-edition One Barrel DM series. Before One Barrel emerged, Crimea had no similar authorial wine concepts limited to just one barrel per year that gained significant recognition. Even today, most wineries in the region remain focused on larger-scale production. The inspiration behind these elegant wines stems from a long-standing fascination with Pinot Noir, a love for Cabernet Sauvignon, and a deep appreciation for Chardonnay. These French varieties, in Dmitry’s view, best express distinctive stylistic character and are ideal for barrel aging. Yet other grape varieties hold no less potential to surprise—and thus remain in his creative plans, as he eagerly experiments with their captivating diversity. Depending on the vintage, aging may take place in new barriques or pre-used barrels, all in pursuit of the perfect cuvée—and in search of an answer to the eternal question: What truly defines a wine’s unique style? Is it the supremacy of terroir, the character of the grape, or the skill of the winemaker? Or is this triumvirate the only possible path to quality, with no alternative formula? The judgment—and the answer—belong to wine connoisseurs, for whom such artisanal projects open up an entire world of wine to explore and savor.
