Château Sociando-Mallet

According to documents, in 1633, the building of the modern Château Sociando-Mallet winery served as the residence of the Basque aristocrat Sièvre Sociando; in 1850, it was acquired by Madame Mallet. For many decades, the winery was abandoned, and its territory steadily diminished until it reached a critical 5 hectares. At this point, it was purchased by the enthusiast Jean Gautreau, who restored the estate to life, expanding its area to 85 hectares, renovating the main building, and constructing a modern cellar. The exceptional terroir, based on gravelly and clay soils, creates ideal conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon vines. The refined wines of Château Sociando-Mallet have long earned a high reputation in the Haut-Médoc region, for which they were granted the honor of being included in the prestigious Cru Bourgeois list in 2007.
