Chateau Monbrison
Château Monbrison is a winery with a history dating back to the mid-18th century. There are two versions of its origin: according to one, it was part of the Dюрфорт-Lacombe estate; according to the other, it was a farm belonging to the Château d’Arsac of the Ségur family. In 1818, the estate was acquired by Paul Georges de Monbrison. A significant turning point in its history occurred in 1922 when the estate was purchased by Robert Davies (a priest, poet, and journalist) and his wife Kathleen Johnston (from the family of owners of Château Margaux-Dauzac and Château Ducru-Beaucaillou). Today, the estate is managed by Laurent, Davies’ grandson, who also runs a wine business in the USA. Under the Davies family, important transformations were implemented: vineyards were replanted in 1963, and new cellars were built in 1978. The estate’s vineyards cover an area of 20.5 hectares (13 hectares on the plateau + 7.5 hectares in the «Pujos» plot).
