Chateau de Fieuzal

The history of Chateau de Fieuzal dates back to the times when the estate was owned by the noble La Rochefoucauld family. At the beginning of the 19th century, it passed into the hands of the Fieuzal family, who gave it its current name. A new chapter in the estate’s history began at the end of the 19th century when it was acquired by the Griffon family. The estate gained particular fame due to the close relationship between Alfred Griffon and Pope Leo XIII — thanks to this connection, Chateau de Fieuzal wines were supplied to the Vatican for a long time. In 2001, another significant event took place — the estate came under the ownership of Irish banker Lochlann Quinn, who became the new owner after a series of various proprietors. Today, Chateau de Fieuzal rightfully ranks among the outstanding wineries of the Pessac-Léognan region. It is noteworthy that, despite the red wines receiving Premiers Crus classification in 1953 and 1959, it was the estate’s white wine that gained special renown. Without an official classification, it has firmly established itself as a leader among appellation wines and is recognized as one of the finest representatives of the Graves region.
