Charles Heidsieсk

Charles Heidsieck holds a special position among the three Champagne houses of the Heidsieck family. Despite its relatively small scale, this house is considered the most outstanding. It was founded in 1851 by Charles Heidsieck — the nephew of the owner of Piper-Heidsieck. It was thanks to Charles that Champagne gained popularity across the ocean, becoming a symbol of luxury and bohemian life for Americans. This status persisted into the 20th century: for example, Cuvée Royale 1973 was chosen for the wedding celebration of Prince Charles and Lady Diana. The dramatic story of the founder himself inspired the creation of the film «Champagne Charlie», starring Hugh Grant. A distinctive feature of production is the aging of wines in the legendary chalk cellars of Crayères. These underground tunnels, stretching over 8 kilometers, were created as early as the 3rd century and are now part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. The unique conditions of the cellars ensure the perfect maturation of Champagne. In 2022, Charles Heidsieck became one of the first Champagne producers to receive the prestigious B Corp certification. This status confirms the company’s commitment to high standards in the field of ecology and social responsibility.
