Bakla Vines

Bakla Vines is an ambitious full-cycle garage project founded in 2016 in the picturesque Bakhchisaray region of Crimea. The winery’s name refers to an ancient settlement dating back to the 3rd century AD, located amidst the majestic Crimean ridge. It is noteworthy that winemaking in this area has deep historical roots. Archaeological findings, such as ancient grape presses (tarapans) and fermentation vessels carved directly into the rock, testify to the region’s rich winemaking tradition. These historical parallels are even reflected in the winery’s modern logo, inspired by local petroglyphs. The project was founded by супруги Daria Khodchenkova and Viktor Protsko. Their journey began with 4 hectares of vineyards located in the historical bed of the Alma River. In 2017, they made a significant breakthrough by planting the rare Armenian variety Kangun in Crimea. The debut wine collection received enthusiastic reviews from critics and earned high ratings from experts. This success marked the beginning of a promising journey for Bakla Vines in the world of winemaking.
