Arnaud Lopes

Behind the concise black labels with the image of a grapevine lies a great name, unassumingly stated on the back label – Arnaud Lopez. This man is the hands, soul, and brain of the entire project. A man of incredible kindness and modesty, he wants nothing to do with quotas, budgets, and distribution. Therefore, his wines are sold by a team of like-minded people from a small wine shop in the center of Beaune – Maison Pinot Noir. And Arnaud? He selects the plots, vinifies, and breathes life into the boring name! Arnaud grew up in Nuits-Saint-Georges. His father ran a wine bistro frequented by the whole elite of the Côte de Nuits: Armand Rousseau, Comte Liger-Belair, Noellat, Gros, de Vogüé, and other stars of the region. So, Arnaud grew up surrounded by conversations about successful and unsuccessful vintages, the intricacies of vinification, and the quirks of particular plots. Lopez himself worked for 12 years at Domaine Prieuré-Roch as a tâcheron – meaning he was responsible for a specific plot. He was in charge of La Doua: both the vineyard itself and the vinification of the grapes from this parcel in the cellar. The winery is located in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Everything there is standard: an above-ground section for vats and an underground cellar for aging. Therefore, all processes are carried out by gravity. Minimal intervention, no added sulfur, just grapes and pure grape juice. In terms of style, Arnaud's wines are juicy, full of energy. They have depth, berry intensity, and minerality. The energy of his wines is almost incomparable! This is certainly connected to the human factor in the terroir. And it is absolutely certain that after the first sip, these wines are impossible to forget.
