Alonso & Pedrajo

The family enterprise is run by friends Alberto and Javier along with their wives, who personally oversee grape cultivation in the prestigious La Cala region located in Rioja. The business is developing dynamically, with the current focus on expanding vineyard plantings, which will serve as the foundation for constructing a modern winery. The winemakers manage three hectares of vineyards where Viura, Sauvignon Blanc, Malvasia, and Tempranillo are grown. The plots are strategically located at an elevation of 670 meters, where clay-limestone soils combined with a continental climate moderated by Atlantic influence create ideal conditions for grape cultivation. A significant achievement was the acquisition of promising plots in Finca la Cala, Villalba de Rioja, and on the eastern edge of Montes Obarañes in 2013. While their own vineyards provide only half of the required raw material volume, the team strives for complete self-sufficiency. The estate’s philosophy is built on respect for nature and minimal interference in the natural production process. The winemakers adhere to sustainable development principles (sustainability), practice natural must fermentation, and cellar aging lasts from 3 to 12 months. Alonso & Pedrajo are part of Rioja ‘n’ Roll, an exciting group of young winemakers making waves in the contemporary wine world.
