Against this backdrop, aromas of dried rose petals, wildflowers, and dry herbs unfold, with a barely perceptible hint of mint. The background of the bouquet is shaped by subtle sweet spices, as well as nuances of tobacco, licorice, black pepper, and even gingerbread. Notes of wet earth, wood shavings, and graphite also emerge in the aroma. The palate is an example of rare harmony: it is simultaneously powerful and airy, with excellent integration of tannins and acidity. The wine is full-bodied yet elegant. The tannins here are one of the most important features of this vintage. They are dense, fine-grained, and perfectly ripe, reminiscent in texture of "dry bread crumb" or "crumbs." They are present but do not overwhelm the palate; instead, they lend substance and length. The acidity is high, lively, and crystalline. It is the backbone of the wine, making it "light on its feet" and incredibly drinkable. The core of the palate is dense and juicy, with notes of dark cherry, plum, blueberry, and raspberry. Against this fruity foundation, hints of leather, iron, coffee, and dark chocolate unfold. The flavor evolves from a sweetish berry entry to a deeper, spicier, and more "earthy" finish, where graphite, tobacco, blood orange, and licorice dominate.
